What to Do If Your RPLATE Is Stolen

We hope you never experience this—but if your RPLATE is stolen, we’re here to help guide you through the process and protect you from misuse.

Updated over a month ago

Acting quickly is important, and what you do first depends on whether the vehicle was stolen along with the plate.

If Your Vehicle and RPLATE Were Stolen

Start by filing a police report.

File a Police Report

  • File a report with your local law enforcement agency

  • Make sure the RPLATE is reported as stolen property, not as a license plate

This distinction is important—especially for vanity plate numbers—because reporting it as a stolen license plate may cause the state to permanently retire that number.

  • Keep the police report number and a copy of the report

Report the Theft in the Reviver App

Once the police report is filed:

  1. Open the Reviver app

  2. Report Vehicle and RPLATE stolen

  3. Enter the police report details and upload the report when prompted

After Reviver review, the plate will display a “STOLEN” message to aid in recovery.

If Only the RPLATE Was Stolen

If your vehicle is still in your possession:

  1. Open the Reviver app and report the RPLATE stolen as soon as possible

  2. File a police report and upload the details when requested

  3. Report the RPLATE as stolen property, not as a license plate

In this case, the plate is deactivated and restricted, but it will not display a “STOLEN” message.

Replacement and Next Steps

  • A police report is required to qualify for discounted replacement options

  • Replacement fees and timelines vary by plan and situation

  • A plate flagged as stolen cannot be reactivated or claimed by another user without Reviver resolving ownership

Once the theft is documented, Reviver Support will work with you to guide next steps and help you get back on the road.
