Can I create or change a banner message on my RPLATE?

Whether you can create and display a personalized banner message on your RPLATE depends on the rules set by your state’s motor vehicle department.

Updated over a month ago

Banner message availability depends on three things:
your state, the license plate design you’re displaying, and—if you want something custom—your service plan.

Using a pre-approved banner

If banner messages are available for the plate design you’re using, you can choose from pre-approved banners.

  • Available in the Discover and Trending sections of the Personalization feature of the app

  • Already approved and ready to use

  • No review or request required

Even if custom banners aren’t supported, pre-approved banners are often still available.

Requesting a custom banner

In some cases, you can request a custom banner message.

  • Custom banner requests are available only in certain states and for certain plate designs

  • A Plus or Premium service plan is required

  • All custom banners must be reviewed and approved before display

If custom banner requests are available for your current plate design, you’ll see the option to submit one in the Mine Section within the Personalization feature in the app.

Banner message guidelines

All banner messages—pre-approved or custom—must follow Reviver’s Banner Message Acceptable Use Policy, which explains what types of content are allowed and what is restricted.

California customers

If your vehicle is registered in California, you can submit personalized banner messages for review and approval.

  • Banner messages are reviewed to ensure they comply with requirements set by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and Reviver

  • Approval is required before a banner can be displayed

Banner message guidelines

Not all messages are allowed. Content must follow Reviver’s Banner Message Acceptable Use Policy, which explains what types of messages are permitted and what content is restricted.

For full details on banner message rules and examples of allowed and disallowed content, please review the Acceptable Use Policy.
