Why Wired RPLATEs Can’t Be Transferred
Wired RPLATEs are permanently associated with a specific vehicle under California regulations. Because these plates connect directly to vehicle power and telemetry systems, the state requires them to remain tied to the original VIN.
As a result:
Wired plates cannot be reassigned to a new vehicle
They cannot be re-provisioned after a vehicle is sold or traded in
Attempting to transfer them in the app will be blocked by design
This applies even if:
You still own the plate
The plate is physically removable
The new vehicle is also registered in California
Were Wired RPLATEs Discontinued?
Yes. Wired RPLATEs are no longer offered to new customers.
Reviver now supports battery-powered RPLATEs, which are:
Transferable between vehicles you own
Compliant with current California regulations
Supported for future updates and replacements
What Are My Options?
