RPLATE Battery Stuck on “Ship Mode” or “Provisioning”

If your RPLATE Battery (BB8) is showing the Reviver logo, a QR code, or “Provisioning – Downloading Files,” the plate has not finished activation.

Updated over a month ago

Provisioning must complete before the plate is installed on your vehicle. The steps below assume the plate is not yet installed.

How to Complete Provisioning

1. Exit Ship Mode

All battery-powered plates ship in Ship Mode to preserve battery life.

  • Locate the oval Home Button on the bottom-right front of the plate

  • Press and hold the button for 4 seconds

  • Release the button

Within a few moments, you should see “Data Download in Progress” on the plate. This indicates the RPLATE is connecting via LTE and beginning activation.

Allow 5–10 minutes for this process to continue.

2. Place the Plate Outdoors

The plate uses LTE cellular connectivity to download its digital image.

  • Keep the uninstalled plate outdoors

  • Ensure a clear view of the sky

  • Garages, carports, concrete, and metal structures can block the signal

  • Double-tap the Home Button to force an immediate connection attempt

3. Allow Verification to Complete

Provisioning may pause while your documents are reviewed.

  • Check the Reviver app

  • If it shows “Verification in Progress,” no action is needed

  • Document review typically takes 1–3 business days

During this time, the plate may remain on a placeholder screen until approval is complete.

What You Might See

“DETACHED”
This is expected during provisioning. The plate is not installed yet.

Reviver logo or QR code
The plate is waiting to complete activation or verification.

If the screen appears frozen, restart the plate by pressing and holding the Home Button for 10 seconds.

When to Install the Plate

Install the plate only after:

  • Provisioning completes

  • Your digital plate image appears

  • The app confirms activation

Installing the plate before activation is complete can delay provisioning.
